Family fun this Bank Holiday Monday!

Mini Folk takes over the Fox & Firkin garden for an afternoon packed with live music, DJs, dancing, bubbles, crafts and face painting, made for little humans AND their grown-ups.

A special highlight will be Cut A Shine’s Bassline Ceilidh: a high-energy club-meets-folk experience mixing traditional barn dancing and reels with electronic beats, basslines and remixes. Expect an interactive family-friendly session where everyone can get up and dance, no ceilidh experience required!

At the heart of the afternoon are The Blue Bottle Club, bringing their infectious blend of swing and folk to a special interactive show created for families. Expect brilliant musicianship, songs to dance to, moments for little ones to get involved and plenty for grown-ups to enjoy too.

We are all about creating the kind of live music experience parents often miss once little people arrive. Proper bands, great DJs and genuinely good music, but in a relaxed daytime setting where nobody minds if your toddler wants to dance at the front, time off to make crafts, chase bubbles or simply sit and listen.

Alongside the music there’ll be creative craft tables, face painting and plenty of bubble joy, giving children the freedom to dip in and out of activities while parents can catch up with friends, have a drink and enjoy a gig without worrying about keeping everyone sitting quietly.

Our events are designed to bring little humans and their grown-ups together through music, introducing children to the excitement of live performance while giving parents a chance to reconnect with the things they loved doing before family life got quite so... busy.

Bring your friends, family, or come along solo – everyone is welcome! Whether it’s your first dance or your fiftieth, you’ll be swept up in the joy.

This is a standing gig. Booths include entry for 6 people to the event, includes a bottle of fizz, and guarantees your space for the evening.

The World's Tallest Bubbleologist is joining us for our daytime festival with an amazing repertoire of bubble tricks! From giant bubbles to the tiniest bubbles in the world, bubble sculptures, smoke bubbles, fire bubbles and tons more to delight and captivate every audience of any age!

Cut A Shine Family Barn Dance - St Patrick’s Day Special

All ages and abilities welcome... we're teach you the moves.. from really simple dances for the smallest kids to a couple of proper ones for the grown ups, come and get your folk on with Cut A Shine!

Suitable for children of all ages - we mix up the sets with dances for really small kids and some for bigger kids.

Celebrating Irish Culture, Music and Dance
Irish Stew and Champ (Meat and Vegan) will be served. We’ll have Guinness, Stouts, and fine Whisky.

They make you do it in schools in Scotland, but down here in London we do it by choice! Come and dance and celebrate the National Poet of Scotland with a proper knees up ceilidh in the glorious Round Chapel. A wee dram for the adults, and some sugary snacks for the kids - what could possibly go wrong?!

All ages and abilities welcome... we're teach you the moves.. from really simple dances for the smallest kids to a couple of proper ones for the grown ups, come and get your folk on with Cut A Shine!

Proper Scottish Haggis (couriered down to us especially) , Neeps and Tatties will be served, alongside a simple red sauce and rice.

About The Dancing
Although called many things; Ceilidh, Country Dance, Barn Dance, Ceili Dance, Square Dance, Set Dancing - one thing is certain, it's all "traditional" and how people would entertain themselves before TV and raves. We have a live band on stage to provide the music, and a "Dance Caller", who is expert at teaching you all the simple and fun moves. First we learn the dance by walking through it with the caller, then the band strike up, and we dance to the music. You don't need any experience, just willingness to have a go and have fun.

Our dances are All Inclusive, regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Although based largely on traditional European and American dance forms, we welcome all cultures and peoples to enjoy these dances and culture. We have tailored our dances to be non-heteronormative and involve everyone. We welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Don your favourite winter sparkles, it's our festive special!

All ages and abilities welcome... we're teach you the moves.. from really simple dances for the smallest kids to a couple of proper ones for the grown ups, come and get your folk on with Cut A Shine!

Suitable for children of all ages - we mix up the sets with dances for really small kids and some for bigger kids.

Diversity and Inclusivity Policy Whilst the music and dances come from predominantly Anglo-saxon and Celtic culture, everyone is welcome to come enjoy the dancing and experience these aspects of the folk culture of the British Isles. We welcome family units of any type and configuration. We want to bring everyone together to dance together, which is how it should be.

Here it is, the big 2.0.! We invite you all to come and celebrate a huge milestone for Cut A Shine - our 20 year anniversary as a barn dance band… We’ve called in reinforcements with dear friends and killer band Sheelanagig, also turning 20 this year, to come and celebrate with us and get us dancing. Thousands of Festivals, Weddings, Parties - keepin’ the hoedown happening indeed!
