Barn Dating. Reinventing speed dating in a barn dance stylee, and bringing a whole new meaning to "swing your partner": gingham games, a love parlour, message boards, masked and special dating dances.... it's all there! Featuring Live performance from 11 piece jump jive swing band FAT45 and the bona fide family band....yehaa! HOWEVER, this night is not just for singles, it's just themed...dagnamit, barn dancin' is pretty much about datin' and flirtin' anyway!.... £10 OTD (NOT a cheap venue, and you'll see why!)
Saturday 22nd September. Having landed after all the festivals, we are producing a season of monthly dances for September, Friday 19th October and Friday 16th November, back at the glorious Finsbury Town Hall in Clerkenwell. We're still ironing out the details and brewing the liquor, but expect some top bands, top fun and games, and some new dances. Highlights are a "Barn Dating" Night and our favourites Fat45 swing band.
Saturday 22nd September: Baltic Barn Dance at the Finsbury Town Hall, with She'Koyokh (Sh-coy-ah), a nine piece klezmer band who promise to teach some Eastern European moves, and Brothers Bab Ska Band! In eager anticipation of the festival season, we invite you to come dance at our fundraiser for StokeFest - a free, independent festival to be held in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington on Sunday the 10th of June. This is our favourite free London festival, brought together by volunteers and with little backing from the powers that be! All proceeds from the door and bar will pay for a stage with a top notch line-up including the bands that play here tonight. Joined by Morning Bride – an Anglo-America 5 piece playing lush country-tinged music. great DJs on hand to keep party going til late! £8 adv, £10 otd.
**VENUE CHANGE** Due to lisence problems, our May Bank Holiday Dance will now be taking place at the Old Queen's Head Pub on Essex Rd. We're taking over both rooms of this sumptuous pub to bring you multi-folk-award winning band Van Eyken, Cut A Shine Barn Dance Shenanigans, The ZongZing All Stars - Congolese Soukous Dance band, and some Rock n' Roll/Swing/Bluegrass DJs well into the wee hours. Back at the glorious Finsbury Town Hall! 31st March and into April...joined by Romani Rad - a 30 strong troupe of Roma gypsy musicians and dancers, providing a dazzling, lively and colourful performance set to wild Eastern European beats! Thursday March 1st we'll be back at the Bethnal Green Working Men's for a night of HoeDown and Hicks! We're joined by The Generators: Country and Western music in an East End style (cockney Hank Williams!) 42 Pollard Row, E2.

The splendid Victorian Ballroom of the Finsbury Town hall (see the gallery section) on Roseberry Avenue plays host to our Valentine's Ball - newly refurbished and opened as the Urdang Academy. Barn Dancing from 8pm - 10:30, followed by the jump jiving 11 peice swing band FAT 45 to rock n' roll and jive the dance to a close at 12am. There is free entry to all attendees to the Queen Boadicea late bar, 2 minutes away, for some hip huggin' jitter buggin' DJs into the wee hours. St Valentine's Barn Dance. All money raised from this dance will go towards funding StokeFest, a free day event to be held in Clissold Park on the 11th June 2006. The venue is quite small so please come early! However, it should be going on late with DJ's after the dance.....£6 waged and £4 for concessions and those dressed to ceilidh!
